Dyslipidaemias represent one of the major cardiovascular risk factors. Many treatments are available, but the choice should take into account the therapeutic goals according to the risk class, as suggested by the new EAS-ESC guidelines.
The aim of this course is to identify and suggest, in the light of scientific evidence, which are the correct approaches according to the different risk classes and various clinical situations.
To improve the identification and treatment of dyslipidemia, what is known and established in the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases will be addressed. Available lipid-lowering therapies and new therapeutic approaches will be analysed, both for rare diseases of lipid metabolism and for the general population and indicate new emerging causal factors that could be of interest in clinical practice.
Lipidologists need to be familiar with the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions as they may be associated with high morbidity and mortality. The objective of this course is to review practical aspects of evaluation and management, and to interact on real clinical cases of these disorders and to gain insight into how to established and run a lipid clinic.
